The below infographic illustrates the ever-increasing number of deaths and profound reach of violence affecting the men, women and children of Syria in over one year of unrest and rebellion against President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
The numbers paint an unsettling picture for those of us outside of the Middle Eastern nation’s borders, with well over 11, deaths, 65, people missing, 212, incarcerations and over 35, Syrians injured since the uprising began in March of 211.
This infographic was provided to Social Media Chimps by Hardcore 4 Syria, an online project dedicated to raising awareness and supporting the victims of the humanitarian crisis in Syria. They describe themselves as a “group of Punk & Hardcore enthusiasts (who) are appalled and horrified by the unacceptable news we hear out of Syria, where we have a few friends.”
Hardcore 4 Syria is currently working on a project that will culminate with a free downloadable compilation of punk and hardcore songs provided by bands around the world looking to do their part in helping to find an end to the crisis in Syria.
They have so far confirmed work from groups such as Anti Flag and 59 Times the Pain, and are currently speaking with other punk and hardcore bands willing to take part in the project.
Hardcore 4 Syria can be found on both Facebook and Twitter.
