In this TEDTalks video, Clay Shirky talks about his belief that our 2.o universe’s cognitive surplus will change the world, and how tools such as Ushahidi (which means ‘witness’ or ‘testimony’ in Swahili) succeed in helping to make sense of the sea of information around us.
Ushahidi is an open-source software that was originally created to track events in Kenya in the wake of a media blackout. Since its creation, it has also been used to track damage and humanitarian efforts after the earthquake in Haiti, election fraud in Mexico and even snow cleanup in Washington, D.C.
