The Broad Sustainable Building Co., LTD (BSB), established in March 29, has made a big impact online with their time elapsed video of the assembly and completion of a 3-story hotel in only 36 hours over a 15 day period.

Millions of Views

Over the last few weeks the time elapsed video has been seen by millions of people on YouTube, and has sparked conversation about the potential of prefab construction. This video is an example of the impact social media can have on not just an individual company, but on an entire industry.

Sustainability and Environmental Benefits

The video highlights at a number of points the sustainability and environmental benefits of this type of prefab construction. The company claims that the building is five times more energy-efficient and generates a fraction of the waste that a comparable building produces. Broad Sustainable Building Co., LTD (BSB), also claims the building can withstand a magnitude 9 earthquake.

Impact of Video on BSB’s Business

By December 211, BSB had two franchise partnerships finalized and another ten partnerships with Chinese and international partners under development. With a goal of one hundred franchise partners, it will be interesting to see how the time elapse video going viral on social media impacts the growth of BSB’s business.

Closing Thoughts

Companies and organizations are getting increasingly better at producing compelling and engaging content for distribution on social media sites. As we saw with the KONY 2012 video campaign and this time-lapse video, social media can be a powerful tool for getting the word out and creating conversation.
