Mitt Romney — A Bad Lip Reading (Humor)

by Dave Kempa

We at Social Media Chimps are ecstatic for the upcoming 2012 elections, both for the opportunity to follow and analyze how candidates across the country employ social media in their races, and for the opportunity to look into the absurd, outlandish and often hilarious videos, photos and memes that are sure to go viral as November 6 nears.

Take this Mitt Romney video by Bad Lip Reading released last fall in the heat of the Republican primary season. Edited in the format of a political advertisement, this video provides voice-over audio based on a lip-reading of footage of the Republican presidential nominee.

In two minutes of absolutely mystifying verbiage, the BLR crew has Romney putting forth such truisms as, “I will force spiders and badgers on the enemy, and get ‘em all to shut up,” and, “I’m a gremlin. I’m leaving the party. And I want everyone to stuff the ice chest.”

The creator of Bad Lip Reading is actually a Texas-based music and video producer, whose “Gang Fight” video, a spoof of Rebecca Black’s “Friday,” went wildly viral in the spring of 211. He has since produced a number of BLR music videos, and shifted into the political realm this past fall with videos of all the major presidential candidates professing the absurd.

We’re hoping that BLR, whose Facebook page has just under 27, likes, keeps it up with the political clips this election season. Be sure to check back with Social Media Chimps as the election season ramps up for more of the virally absurd.

“Ding-dong llama-wanny jumpin’ with an ice pick, she thinks I’m goin’ in,” says Romney.

Indeed.
