Speaking of Don Draper and Mad Men, I have to share our marketing agency’s new Timeline photo that we launched in honor of the Mad Men premiere. Needless to say we had some fun! https://www.facebook.com/thehoneyagency

At the risk of shamelessly promoting myself, I love my Facebook Timeline picture taken by Melani Lust Photography: https://www.facebook.com/SweetandSimpleFans
Hanee Designs designed my Timeline and I didn’t change a thing. The picture was not taken specifically for Timeline, but I think it works so well for the new format. Cheers!

  • Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To me the Old Spice design (and when I say “design”, I mean the totality of the layout, not just the cover) is nice because the profile and cover are integrated and the apps (with the exception of “likes” which does’t really have to be there) is consistent. The AT&T one, however, is a mess. It’s way to busy and there is no consistent call to action. Is the page about 4G, American Idol, basketball or crayons? TO me it’s too busy. Yes, they have loads of likes, but from a design perspective, I don’t think it would make Don Draper proud.

I also object to calling something a nice design because it has a nice photo. The photo of the Dreaming Cow page is beautiful, but there is no design. The profile icon is just a graphic that does not integrate with the cover and the application thumbnails are just the default app icons. While it does have a beautiful photo, there is no design.

While some might say that the Timeline design as {Web.Search.Social} is not pretty, it is designed. The profile icon, cover and all three editable app thumbnails are integrated.
